Application of PTFE

Application Case 1 of PTFE
Oilless lubricating material
The friction series of polytetrafluoroethylene is the lowest among known solid materials. Its performance is far superior to phenolic resin and nylon. Among many polymer materials, only polyethylene may be comparable to it.
In some equipment, the friction parts cannot be added with lubricants. For example, in occasions where lubricating grease will be dissolved by solvents and become ineffective, or in industrial fields such as papermaking, pharmaceuticals, food, and textiles where products need to avoid being contaminated by lubricants. This makes filled PTFE materials the most ideal material for oilless lubrication (directly bearing loads) of mechanical equipment parts. It can be used for various bearings, gears, and pulleys in machinery.

Application Case 2 of PTFE
PTFE fiber has good chemical stability. Its corrosion resistance is better than other synthetic fiber varieties. The fiber surface has a waxy feel, low friction coefficient, and the actual use temperature is between 120° - 180°. It also has good weather resistance and flex resistance. However, its dyeability and thermal conductivity are poor, and its wear resistance is also not good. It has a large thermal expansion coefficient and is prone to static electricity. It is good to combine it with aramid or nylon to prepare the heat insulation layer and tear-resistant layer in spacesuits.
In construction, PTFE fiber can be used to make building materials.
In medical treatment, it can be made into soft tissues of the human body, such as artificial blood vessels and hearts.

Application Case 3 of PTFE
Due to its excellent characteristics, PTFE coating is applied to the coating of many composite materials and even on airplanes in the aviation industry. High-end composite materials are mostly carbon fiber and glass fiber. The corrosion resistance of these two is much weaker than that of PTFE. Therefore, coating a layer of PTFE on the outside of them can play a very good isolation role. This is not only used in aerospace but also in other fields such as construction. The famous "Burj Al Arab" sailboat hotel in Dubai is the world's first seven-star hotel. The glass fiber coated with PTFE used on its exterior can effectively resist ultraviolet rays, fire, temperature differences between day and night, and sandstorms.
